BRIEF

Five times a year, by invitation only, Podge lunches are a chance for the leaders and influencers to gather for an agenda-free afternoon of networking at its most relaxed and enjoyable. Each has become a must-attend for the who's who of the creative (up north and down south), digital, sport and music industries. Each year a different agency takes on the challenge of creating a new theme for each lunch. Which means five agencies working on five different briefs, to create a jaw-dropping theme. The lunches might be relaxed but they have also been the start of a number of professional collaborations (and personal ones too, including two weddings and at least three babies that we know of). And because of their unique nature, they have continued to grow, and, have become a date pencilled into diaries almost as soon as the dishes have been cleared away.

SOLUTION

At LOCAL, we were honored to spearhead the theme for the 28th year of PODGE, injecting vibrant colors, lively commotion, and a touch of eccentricity into the typically sleek, all-black aesthetic of London designers.
Our efforts extended beyond the digital realm, as showcased on the website, which not only garnered significant attention but also attracted a diverse and enthusiastic audience.
We meticulously curated every aspect of the space, adorning it with elements like toran embellishments on the bar counter, a maximalist menu-zine, and a captivating mirror installation depicting a bustling Indian crowd (à¤à¥€à¤¡à¤¼). From the table settings to the event paraphernalia, every detail resonated with our theme. Wooden print blocks and metal miniature rickshaws were placed as the centre pieces on each table to give them the sights and sounds of India.
The event became a melting pot of wonderful conversations, bringing together inspiring individuals. Amidst the lively exchanges, plans for future trips to India were hatched, and countless stories were shared.
In essence, we successfully localized the London designers for a day, leaving an indelible mark of creativity and cultural fusion on the event.

LETS GO BILINGUAL

We decided to keep the event bilingual, not just to pay homage to our wonderful Devanagari typography and Hindi phonetics but to also truly give the event the sights and sounds of India.
(We hear this may have gotten the British creatives to start ordering Paneer Tikka Masala in Hindi now)
MORE IS MORE

As a nation who has Cholle Bhature, Poori Aloo, Dosas & Vadas for breakfast, we don’t shy away from Podge, in fact, we embrace it. With the podgy asura as our mascot we created chaos and colour through all the event touchpoints. Showing the world that less may be more. But more is the most fun!
