MEN'S ONLY TAXI

The brief

How can taxi interiors provoke conversation about the safety of women in public spaces?

The solution

Roshnee created a taxi that reversed gender stereotypes, making men

realise what it felt like to be a woman traveling in public. This taxi was

plastered with all the invisible ‘rules’ that women had to follow in public.

The concept

The CHART

The symbol was borrowed from the graphic commonly found outside women’s compartments in Mumbai’s local trains—that of a coy Indian woman, holding her sari over her head.

This was converted into a man, using similar colour schemes and illustration style. A chart was then made, portraying the invisible rules that women have to follow in public spaces in India due to societal restrictions. However, in the chart, men were being asked to follow them.

In the centre, it said in Hindi, "Are these rules applicable to men too?"
